Bordeaux Supérieur

Here’s what was #inmyglass :

Bordeaux Supérieur is a regional AOC like the AOC Bordeaux and can also come from all over the Bordeaux wine region. To qualify for the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation, the wines must meet even more rigorous qualitative criteria than those of AOC Bordeaux. These wines must in particular be made from aged vines and be aged for a minimum of nine months before being marketed.

Château Gromel Bel Air was founded in 1855. The estate and its 27 hectares of vines are located in Fronsac near the famous towns of Pomerol and Saint-Émillion. The high altitude vineyards of Fronsac composed of limestone, chalk and clay produce particularly robust red wines made from Merlot. A special plot of the estate’s vineyards is dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon which brings structure and freshness to the blend.

The wine in my glass is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

It is aromatic, fruity and spicy, with a nice balance and a moderate structure. A really nice quality wine at a spectacular price.

It was great with Entrecote Bordelaise 🍷

Vermentino di Gallura

Vermentino is a light-skinned wine grape variety grown in various locations around the western Mediterranean, near the coastal regions of northern Italy, southern France, and on the islands of Corsica and Sardegna. It is known as Pigato in Liguria, Favorita in Piedmont and Rolle in Provence.

Sardinia, the Isola del Vento, is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and only marginally smaller than Italy’s other major island, Sicily.

Vermentino di Gallura is Sardinia’s only DOCG appellation. It must be a minimum of 95%, though, in reality, most are 100% varietal wines. The minimum alcohol for the still dry white wine is 12%. 13% is necessary for the Superiore designation, usually from later grape picking

Jankara has its roots in a long family heritage and was born in 2006, in 2008 they planted their first vineyard with four hectares of Vermentino di Gallura, in the upper part of Gallura, a wonderful area, considered a “grand cru” for the Vermentino grape.

Vermentino di Gallura Superiore DOCG Jankara is made with 100% Vermentino, entirely from grapes coming from the very low yield vines of their vineyards, located at about 300 meters above sea level.

It goes perfectly with all seafood, preferably raw.

The one #inmyglass was great with “Spaghetti Frutti di Mare” @jankarawines + @casa_dangelo , what a great team 🥂

Salute 🥂

Here’s what was #inmyglass

The Rhône Valley begins south of Lyon, France and ends on the Mediterranean Sea . To the north, the Rhône septentrional, the vineyards are planted on steep hillsides where its 8 appellations produce prestigious red wines with the Syrah grape and white wines with viognier, marsanne and roussanne. Hermitage is the only place in the world where the four geological ages are visible. It is there where Maison Chapoutier, undoubtedly one of the most prestigious names in the Rhône Valley, produces its most prestigious bottles. The wine #inmyglass, Hermitage “Monier de la Sizeranne” 2011, is its great classic. It comes from 100% Syrah from different terroirs ranging from granite soil to alluvial terraces, by silt and rolled pebbles, very well managed by Michel Chapoutier who really knows his terroir and let the soils express their true character, giving the wines their signature style. Crémant is the sparkling wine of France outside Champagne made through the same process known as méthode Champenoise or méthode traditionnelle.
Alsace is located in the northeast of France. The majority of the wines are white (around 90%) ranging from dry to very sweet, like late harvests. A small quantity of reds and rosés are also produced out of Pinot Noir, and of course Alsace is famous for its Crémant 🥂
@lucienalbrecht is a pioneer in the Crémant d’Alsace AOC, which was made official on August 24, 1976 .

Meursault #inmyglass

Meursault is a Village appellation of the #CôtedeBeaune in Burgundy. Although some red wine is produced here with the pinot noir grape, it is famed for its white wines that celebrate the name of #chardonnay .

The “lieu-dit “ Meursault Les Tillets is of great aromatic nobility and favors finesse more than power, typical of Meursault wines.

For four generations the Domaine Boyer Martenot has perpetuated family traditions and worked with great respect for the terroir in order to produce quality wines like the one #inmyglass . It has a beautiful golden color, I can smell citrus aromas and nuts. Rich palate, lemon pie and lees notes. Excellent acidity and fabulous toasty length.

It was an amazing evening ‼️ Thanks @engped for sharing this beauty. À la votre 🥂

Happy Cabernet Franc Day🍷

#inmyglass today: Happy #CabernetFrancDay 🍷

The lovely and generous father of #cabernetsauvignon is a red grape native to the Spanish Basque Country. Brought back to the south-west of France, by the pilgrims of St Jacques de Compostela, it would be known in the Bordelais, since the 1st century after D-C. Its establishment in the Loire will appear much later, around the 11th century.

#CabernetFranc is nowadays the most important red grape of #AnjouSaumur and #Touraine in the Loire Valley wine region of France🍷

Clos Rougeard produces great CF from the heart of Saumur’s tuffeau plateau.

I love enjoying a mouthwatering Pan Seared Rib Eye Steak with this great and elegant Cabernet Franc #inmyglass 🍷

FLEURIE

The village of Fleurie, in the heart of Beaujolais, near Macon and only 40 minutes from Lyon, is home of one of the 10 Beaujolais Crus. The vineyards cover 850 Ha of mainly granite soils, surrounded by the crus Moulin-à-Vent to the north, Morgon to the south and Chiroubles to the west. Also known as “Queen of Beaujolais”, Fleurie’s wines are considered to be the most “feminine” of the Beaujolais appellation for its finesse and elegance.

#DomaineDeLaGrandCour is one of the oldest in Fleurie, where #JeanDutraive, a true master of #gamay produces this wine in the terroir of “champagne”, one of the four of the domaine.

Silky and souple, with aromas of berries, good acidity, long finish and smooth tannins, … a marvelous pairing with my #thanksgivingturkey
